I recently found the multi-tracks for a recording session that Heavy Mama did at SAE Studios back in 2009. Since 2021 is a year of many anniversaries for the band (our first shows were 15 years ago!), I thought it would be cool to do something with these to celebrate.

Remixing this song became my little lockdown project for a few weeks. I re-recorded the bass but everything else was on the original multitrack (including a great alternate vocal take from Robbie and some unused guitar tracks). The old mix buried the drums so I'm pleased to restore Steesh's kit to its earth-rattling glory. I also put together a special instrumental mix as a digital B-Side.

I'd love to get Heavy Mama back in the studio at some point and do some more recordings. For three guys in our early twenties, we made a glorious racket that I'm still very proud of. Here's to Heavy Mama and wherever in the cosmos she may be.
